Meadow fescue (Festuca pratensis Huds.)

Meadow fescue is a good quality perennial grass that is very resistant to cold and wet conditions. This grass variety is less durable than perennial ryegrass and will be crowded out by ryegrass under intensive grazing. Meadow fescue persists more easily under lower N fertilization. It is a variety that tolerates mowing well and even expands under that regime. In combination with timothy and red clover, the species is suitable for mowing purposes.
